Why Process Art?

Process art focuses on the experience of creating and celebrates the joy of discovery. In a process art approach, children are given an opportunity to explore a variety of materials and subjects, helping them use their own imagination and build critical thinking skills. Because the focus is on the creation process and not an exact outcome, the final product is always unique to each child.

What Process Art Looks Like

We offer interesting art materials children can use independently.

We focus on open-ended activities without a single “right” outcome.

We provide guidance but also allow children to follow their interests.

We are playful and curious in the art making process.

Through Process Art Children…

use their independence and imagination

discover the possibilities of different materials

build creative and critical thinking skills

gain confidence to try their own ideas

learn that everyone can be an artist

embrace mistakes as part of learning and imperfection as part of art
